Wierd Problem

Post by pokemonman »

Ok. Ive had this game for 4 years now, and Ive played it a while. I lost it on accident for about 7 Months( It was in its case) and recently found. I put it into the same computer I always use it on, and it worked fine until I went to caimpaign and clicked " Start Mission". After that, Cole or whoever else would be reading, but the bar at the bottom would not load. Itnever went on to the game, it just sat there. So I uninstalled it and a few other things, and reinstalled it. Did the same thing, and it too, did the same thing. Wouldnt load. I tried Skirmish as well, and that wouldnt let me go back or forward at the map selection screen. So no matter what I do, I cant do anything on Paraworld. Has anyone had this problem before? What should I do? (Sorry for the long message. :P )

Sounds like Windows Firewall is blocking or an USL error occured or a process like PWServer.exe crashed.

Did you install PW + Boosterpack 2.0 ? Do u use mods?

Ok. Dont know if this means anything, but whenever I go to my Firewall, all it says is that it failed to accept something called Snap-In. After that, it just lets me click on help and customize. Once again, I dont know if this means anything, so..I guess im trusting it in your guy's hands.

Paraworld has a Server and a Client process for Multiplayer and Singleplayer as well. This means that the two processes of this game need to communicate with each other and the Windows Firewall could possible block it. Go in the Firewall options and disable it, then try it again. If it works now, you know it's an issue with the firewall and you can set the Paraworld-Processes to be trusted.

Have you tried just waiting? Especially on slower PCs loading can take quite a while. What map did you try to play?

It wont let me play a map in Skirmish. It just goes to map selection, but it doesnt let me go to Charecter selection or whatever. It just wont let me. Also, Ive waited about an hour before for measures, and it stayed the same. Nothing happened except for the music playing in the background.

Also, when I go to Options at the Firewall, it just says "Disc Cleanup", but there is nothing to clean. It says Delete files as well, but there is nothing to delete.

Which firewall software do you use?

So its stuck at the loading screen after you selected a map?

I'm pretty sure the firewall is the problem. Campaign map loading and skirmish map selections are the points in the game where communication with PWServer.exe is required for the game. I'm almost certain this communication is blocked by something.

I have this exact same issue. My computer is pretty decent, so it doesn't have any issues with running the game. I completely disabled the firewall and the issue still persisted.

ok, do you have avast as your antivirus? It seems that it is again flagging pwserver as a threat and moving it to its virus chest. without pw server you will not be able to play skirmish or campaigns.

Thanks to Henry for making the animation
